The light of Luxiona illuminates the Cathedral of Ourense

Energy efficient solutions to highlight the beauty of a historical place.

A new restoration of the portico of the cathedral of Ourense, is the initiative that the Xunta of Galicia devised to attract tourists who are interested in the architectural value of medieval buildings. The restoration work was carried out on the iconography that forms part of the portico. As a final detail, some lights were placed to highlight the beauty of the work. The imposing "pórtico del paraíso" is one of the most outstanding monumental complexes of the building, both for its dimensions and for the quality of the imagery, which to a large extent preserves the polychrome of the 18th century, whose colours have seen the light again due to the recent restoration, given that the passage of time and the humidity had largely faded them. 

The lighting work has been carried out by Luxiona, a leading company in the world market in the lighting sector, which together with the lighting team of Antonio Pazos - ANPASA Orense and the installer Gorgoso, have had the responsibility of highlighting the beauty of the work with light. The installation of light projectors from the Spoty and Ledmotive ranges have been placed taking into account the needs of the architectural space as light plays a very important role in displaying in an attractive way and enhancing the experience that stimulates the visitor, allowing: enhancing the beauty of the sculptural works, attracting the attention of tourists, promoting a suitable atmosphere full of sensations.
